ABOUT AQUAFINA ABOUT AQUAFINA How is Aquafina purified? Every bottle of Aquafina is produced at one of our water purification centers through the HydRO-7™ process. That's how you know you're getting pure water and consistent taste every time you open an Aquafina. Anytime, anywhere. Watch the HydRO-7™ process in action How does Aquafina's purification process differ from other brands of bottled waters? What is reverse osmosis? Does Aquafina's purification process remove beneficial substances? What is the difference between spring water and purified water? Purified water is sourced from water systems that provide safe drinking water and are regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This water is then taken through purification systems designed to remove substances according to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards. Aquafina's state-of-the-art HydRO-7™ purification system employs standards that are even more stringent than those set by the FDA. Aquafina delivers pure water with perfect taste. Every time. More info on Total Dissolved Solids (TDS): TDS is the sum of all solids dissolved in water measured in parts per million (ppm). Examples of substances that can account for TDS include carbonates, bicarbonates, chlorides, sulfates, phosphates, nitrates, calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, iron, manganese, and a few others. A TDS meter is used to provide a reading of the dissolved solids in water. FDA guidelines require that bottled water, excluding mineral water, contain no more than 500 ppm TDS. For a bottled water to be labeled "purified", it must have TDS of no more than 10 ppm. Aquafina's average TDS reading is 4 - that's 2.5 times lower than FDA standards. Where is Aquafina produced? Does Aquafina remove the substances like bacteria or gaseous compounds? What is the history behind Aquafina? Aquafina was introduced in Wichita, Kansas, in 1994 and reached national distribution in 1997. Since its debut, Aquafina has won over consumers with its great taste and purity. Aquafina is currently America's best selling national brand of bottled water based on 2007 sales volume. What athletic organizations does Aquafina sponsor? Aquafina is the Official Water of Major League Baseball. In addition, Aquafina is the "Official Bottled Water" of the PGA of America (including the PGA Championship, PGA Grand Slam, U.S. Ryder Cup and Seniors' Championship), the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team. Does the Aquafina purification process remove pharmaceuticals? The Aquafina purification process uses the best technology available to purify water. It is an accredited and validated process that meets or exceeds government standards and has been verified by independent experts. The seven-step RO-7 process includes reverse osmosis, ozonation and carbon filtration. Each of these steps - even individually - is designed to remove manufactured molecules such as pharmaceuticals, as well as naturally occurring substances such as heavy metals. When these steps are used together, as they are in our proprietary RO-7 process, they further ensure the purity of Aquafina. |
